[1] Traditional Values Coalition Explains Implications of “Hate Crimes Bill” Passed by the U.S. Senate

The Traditional Values Coalition (TVC) issued a press release titled “TVC Condemns Senate For Passing Anti-Christian ‘Hate Crimes’ Bill” on 22 October 2009 in response to the U.S. Senate passing S. 909, “The Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act.”

TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty explained: “The U.S. Senate has just passed a so-called ‘hate crimes’ bill that makes as many as thirty different sexual orientations into federally-protected minority groups. Dishonest politicians and their gay and transsexual allies attached this hate crimes bill to a must-pass defense authorization bill in order to force conservatives to vote for it. Liberals knew they couldn’t get this bill passed as a standalone bill, so they held our soldiers well-being hostage in order to get this dangerous anti-Christian bill passed. Hate crime legislation is based on the phony premise that there’s an epidemic of hate in America against LGBT (gays, bisexuals, lesbians and transgendered) persons. This is false. FBI [Federal Bureau of Investigation] hate crime statistics prove that most so-called hate crimes amount to little more than name-calling or pushing or shoving. Christians and other people of faith will now become targets for persecution and prosecution because of this hate crime provision in the Department of Defense authorization bill. President Obama has signed on to the LGBT agenda so he’ll sign it – and condemn millions of Americans to persecution. This is a sad day for freedom of religion and free speech.”

[2] Proposed United Nations Report States that Terrorism Prevention Security Measures “Risk Unduly Penalizing Transgender Persons”

A 3 August 2009 report titled “Report of the Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms while Countering Terrorism,” by United Nations (U.N.) Special Rapporteur Martin Scheinin, states that security measures used for detecting terrorists "risk unduly penalizing transgender persons whose personal appearance and data are subject to change.”

Frank Gaffney, founder and president of the Center for Security Policy, responded: “It strikes me as a parody of U.N. political correctness and sexual universality, and it’s just hard for me to believe that anybody thinks that these notions actually should trump security concerns - as I think it’s only too clear that…the people who are trying to blow us up have absolutely no use for any of these sexual proclivities.” Gaffney additionally said that terrorists “would be only too delighted to take advantage – indeed we’ve seen them taking advantage - of burqas and other subterfuges to disguise their malign[ant] intents.”

[3] White House Communications Director is Admirer of the Political Philosophy of Communist China Founder, Dictator, and Murderer of 65 Million Chinese, Mao Tse Tung

In a May 2009 address to high school students, White House Communications Director Anita Dunn expressed her admiration for the political philosophy of Communist China founder, dictator, and murderer of 65 million Chinese, Mao Tse Tung, explaining why Mao’s philosophy was important for achieving personal and political goals.

China expert with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, William Ratliff, said that Dunn’s comments were astonishing regardless of her larger point, and Ratliff wondered whether or not Dunn is aware of the Great Leap Forward or the Cultural Revolution, or if Dunn was just trying to look at Mao’s positive accomplishments.

Ratliff commented: “[Mao] did unify the country. [Mao] did implement some policies in the very early years that were constructive. But [Mao’s] policies, basically, were terribly, terribly destructive and I think that just makes it impossible for any serious person in the Western world, and I think an awful lot of serious people in China, to regard [Mao] as one of the great political philosophers. It’s outrageous and pathetic that…anyone in this country frankly, would still believe that.”

[4] Neocustis Inc., Using Aborted Fetal Material in the Manufacture of Anti-Wrinkle Cream, According to Children of God for Life

Children of God for Life (CGL) issued a press release on 27 October 2009, announcing that Neocustis, Inc., a bio-pharmaceutical company focused on dermatology and skin care, is using aborted fetal material in the manufacture of several types of anti-wrinkle cream, including Bio-Gel, Journee, Bio-Serum, Prevedem, Bio Restorative Skin Cream and Lumiere.

CGL Executive Director Debbie Vinnedge comments: “There is absolutely no reason to use aborted babies for such selfish motives. It is anti-life, anti-woman and counter-productive…,” and urges women who are using Neocutis products to throw them in the garbage and to contact the company to express their concerns.

CGL additionally maintains a database of information on vaccines that are manufactured from aborted fetal material, and those being manufactured using ethical means.

[5] United Nations “Defamation of Religions” Resolution Undermines Christians and Religions Other than Islam, Says Open Doors USA President

Open Doors USA President and CEO Carl Moeller is warning that the Islam-inspired Defamation of Religions Resolution that may soon be before the United Nations (UN), is designed to undermine the religious liberty and personal safety of Christians and other faith groups worldwide.

Moeller explains: “Many Christians living in these countries are already severely impacted by restrictive laws -- especially those living under strict Sharia law," says Moeller. "From the right to worship freely to the ability to share the gospel, the Defamation of Religions Resolution threatens to justify local laws that already marginalize Christians. As Americans, we have enjoyed a long tradition of religious liberty. The Defamation of Religions Resolution is a blow against religious freedom.”

The Defamation of Religions Resolution seeks to criminalize words or actions that are deemed to be against a particular religion, namely Islam. The Organization of Islamic Conference, an inter-governmental organization of fifty-seven countries with majority or significant Muslim populations, has been the driving force behind this resolution, and is expected to introduce another such resolution to the UN General Assembly this fall.

[6] Hate-Speech Charges Urged Against Sweden Democrats Leader that Wrote Article Critical of Muslims

Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson, at the end of the political party’s annual congress, wrote an editorial published in the Aftonbladet newspaper on 19 October 2009, which described several inconvenient truths and opinions about the Muslim population of Sweden.

In the editorial, Åkesson opined that “today’s multicultural Swedish power-elite are totally blind to the dangers of Islam.” Åkesson added that more than ten Muslim terrorist organizations have established themselves in Sweden, that Sweden has the most rapes in Europe, and that Muslim men are highly overrepresented among the perpetrators.
Åkesson concluded “As a Sweden Democrat, I see this as our greatest external threat since World War II and I promise to use all my power to change the trend during next year's election.”

Those in opposition to Åkesson say that the editorial qualifies as agitation against an ethnic group (hets mot folkgrupp), i.e. the editorial is tantamount to hate speech; the editorial shows that there are parallels between the Sweden Democrats and the Nazis; and that the Chancellor of Justice (Justitiekanslern) should prosecute Åkesson for alleged hate speech.

[7] Religious Liberty in United Kingdom Fading Fast

A 22 October 2009 Pakistan Christian TV article titled “United Kingdom: Religious Liberty Fading Fast” describes several recent denials of religious liberty in the United Kingdom (UK), including the case of a man who debates Muslims on his TV Gospel program who was hijacked in his car by three Urdu-speaking assailants who grabbed him by the hair, ripped off his cross, and threatened to break his legs if he continued broadcasting.

The article continues: “While Christians are being silenced, Islamisation is advancing, with Islamic fundamentalists appeased at every turn by short-sighted politicians who lack political courage and hanker after political gain. While Christians are fined, sacked, and sued for expressing their faith, Anjem Choudary's Islam4UK is free to run its Islamic Roadshows all across the country (see below). Independent think-tank Civitas recently reported that Britain already has some eighty-five Sharia Courts operating openly, advising illegal actions and transgressing human rights with impunity. Not content with this, some 5000 supporters of Islam4UK are expected to join a 'March for Sharia' from the House of Commons to Trafalgar Square on 31 October, which coincidentally is Reformation Day. (For an example of Islam4UK's Islamic Roadshow in action, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwjvVgvclDQ {Birmingham, June 2009}.)

As long as the various anti-Christian lobby groups can silence Christians and shut down debate through anti-defamation, anti- vilification and anti-discrimination laws along with threats of violence, they will be on a winning trajectory with little resistance -- that is, until violent conflict erupts. Violent 'race' clashes are already on the increase, mostly in response to protests against Islamisation. The UK is in trouble.”

[8] U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi Dismisses the U.S. Constitution

When asked on 22 October 2009 by a Cybercast News Service (CNS) reporter where the U.S. Constitution authorizes the U.S. Congress to order Americans to buy health insurance--a mandate included in both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate versions of the health care bill—Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi dismissed the question by saying: “Are you serious? Are you serious?” Speaker Pelosi’s press spokesman Nadeam Elshami then said: “You can put this on the record. That is not a serious question. That is not a serious question.”

Responding to a followup question by CNS, Speaker Pelosi’s office issued a press release arguing that the U.S. Congress derives the authority to mandate that people purchase health insurance from its constitutional power to regulate interstate commerce.

[9] Atheist Michael Newdow and Freedom from Religion Foundation Suit Challenges Federal and State Tax Exemption for Ministerial Housing Allowances

Atheist lawyer Michael Newdow is representing the Freedom from Religion Foundation in the organization’s suit filed in federal court seeking to overturn longstanding federal and state tax exemption for ministerial housing allowances provided by churches and other religious organizations.

Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, which has moved to intervene in the court case, commented, “Just in time for Halloween, radical anti-religionists are unleashing their favorite scare tactic: a federal lawsuit, this time directly attacking ministers. It is unfortunate that these chronic litigants fail to see the invaluable community services provided by members of the clergy. Ministers of many faiths are dependent on the housing allowance to supplement their meager salaries. We will not stand by and let anti-religious ghouls threaten yet another American tradition.”

[10] PCUSA South Louisiana Presbytery Declared in Contempt of Court for Refusal to Release Documents

Louisiana’s 19th Judicial District Court, on 22 September 2009, ordered the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA)’s South Louisiana Presbytery (SLP) to surrender specified documents to attorneys for the Carrollton Presbyterian Church (CPC) of New Orleans, Louisiana, of which the presbytery and the PCUSA Synod of the Sun have been attempting to reclaim the church’s property in the wake of the church leaving the PCUSA. SLP refused the court order, citing attorney-client and work-product privileges, but the court ruled that these privileges did not apply or had been waived by the documents being circulated to others.

On 22 October 2009, the court found the SLP in contempt, ordered SLP to pay all of CPC’s legal expenses in making and arguing CPC’s motion to find the SLP in contempt of court. The court subsequently ruled that the SLP must surrender the documents in question by 26 October 2009 or again be found in contempt. SLP attorneys have indicated intent to ask Louisiana’s First Circuit Court of Appeal to review the order.

The three congregations amicably left the PCUSA’s Presbytery of San Joaquin (PSJ), retaining their church properties and agreeing to fulfill financial pledges for ministries run by the church they are leaving. PSJ interim leader the Rev. Rick Irish stated: "The relationships we share with these three congregations, as brothers and sisters in Christ, are more important than property. Therefore, we didn't make property an issue." [Emphasis Ed.]

At a 24 September 2009 meeting of the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA)’s Presbytery of Baltimore (POB), the first reading of a proposed overture to the 219th PCUSA General Assembly (GA) in 2010 to redefine biblical marriage by striking any references to marriage being a civil contract between a man and woman from the Directory of Worship in the Book of Order, by defining marriage as a “covenant” between “two people,” by replacing “husband and wife” with the word “couple,” and by recognizing state laws that create a “civil contract.”

“The Israel-Palestine Mission Network (IPMN) of the [Presbyterian Church (PCUSA)], is promoting anti-Israel incitement from a number of different sources, including Al Manar, a Hezbollah-controlled television station which was designated as a “Global Terrorist Entity” by the U.S. Department of Treasury in 2006. The Israel-Palestine Mission Network (IPMN) was established by the General Assembly of the [Presbyterian Church (PCUSA)] in 2004.”

Additionally, CAMERA reports that the IPMN is “…also promoting false allegations about Israel tunneling beneath the Temple Mount – allegations which in the past have incited violence. The IPMN is also relaying a false report of Palestinians attacking right-wing Jews who had entered the Temple Mount to pray the day before Yom Kippur. [4] RedState Blogger Erik Erikson, Referencing Confidential State Department Memo, Accuses Obama Administration of Deliberately Destabilizing Pakistan

In a 12 October 2009 article titled “U.S. Begins Official Effort to Destabilize Pakistan,” RedState blogger Erik Erikson references a confidential U.S. State Department memo obtained by USA TODAY and described in an 11 October 2009 USA TODAY article titled “State Dept. Split over Pakistan Aid,” describing Obama Administration special representative Richard Holbrook’s efforts to shift U.S. aid from American contractors to local Pakistani organizations, and a dissenting confidential (but not classified) memo from U.S. AID economist C. Stewart Callison asserting, according to Erikson, that “Holbrooke is canceling successful programs run by U.S. contractors and preparing to bypass them by giving large sums to local organizations with shaky financial track records” and that “Holbrooke, the top civilian overseeing Obama administration policy on Afghanistan and Pakistan, has asked to personally approve every project funding renewal involving U.S. contractors, of which Callison concludes, “the disapprovals already received are shockingly counterproductive.””

Erikson concludes that, “the United States is shifting money from efficient operations that work to inefficient operations that line the pockets of people who we probably don’t want to make wealthy, given their loyalties….It is willfully naive. And it is dangerous….If Pakistan falls, war will come with India. Both have nukes. The consequences for this administration’s ineptitude will be major and the lives lost catastrophic.”

[6] Guttmacher Institute Report Suggests Over One Billion Abortions Performed Worldwide Since 1980

The Guttmacher Institute (GI) was founded in 1968 as a semi-autonomous division of Planned Parenthood known as the Center for Family Planning Program Development. Renamed in 1977 for former PP director Alan F. Guttmacher, the organization became an independent, not-for-profit corporation.

A new report published by GI says that annual worldwide abortions have declined between 1995 and 2003, but that 41.6 million abortions were performed worldwide in 2003. Pro-lifers point out that there is an abortion performed worldwide for every second of time contained in one year, and that a conservative extrapolation of the GI figures imply that at least 1.12 billion abortions have been performed worldwide since abortions became very widely available in 1980.

[7] New York Times Reporter Suggests Carbon Credits be Given for Having Less Children

New York Times (NYT) reporter Andrew Revkin was a member of a 14 October 2009 panel discussion titled “Covering Climate: What’s Population Got to Do With It,” held at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC, and broadcast on the web.

During the panel discussion, Revkin said: “Well, some of the people have recently proposed [that] there be carbon credits for a family planning program in Africa let's say?...[I]f you can measurably somehow divert fertility rate, say toward an accelerating decline in a place with a high fertility rate, shouldn't there be a carbon value to that?... [T]he single most concrete and substantive thing an American…could do to lower our carbon footprint is…having fewer kids, having fewer children….And obviously it's just a thought experiment, but it raises some interesting questions about all this.”

In a 15 September 2009 NYT environmental issues blog article titled “Are Condoms the Ultimate Green Technology?,” Revkin referenced a London School of Economics study from August 2009 that spoke favorably about diminishing carbon footprints by having fewer children.

[8] Pennsylvania Middle School Student Ordered to Remove “Abortion is not Health Care” T-Shirt on Day of President Obama’s Address to Public School Students

On the day of U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama’s September 2009 televised address to public school students, Principle Robert Savidge of the Crossroads Middle School in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, ordered a student wearing a t-shirt reading “Abortion is not Healthcare” to remove the shirt because the principle deemed the shirt "inappropriate" and that it might insult someone. The student turned the shirt inside-out in the school nurse’s office because there was not another shirt available.

Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) attorneys filed a lawsuit in federal court on 5 October 2009 against the West Shore School District for prohibiting the student from wearing the T-shirt, saying that the school usually allows other students to wear a wide variety of messages on their clothing.

ADF Senior Legal Counsel David Cortman wrote in a press release: "Pro-life students shouldn't be censored for their views. It's clearly unconstitutional for school officials to prohibit a student's message on the grounds that someone might not like it. The school routinely allows students to wear a wide variety of messages on their shirts without any concerns, but this student has been singled out even though his shirt caused no disruption and is clearly within the bounds of constitutionally guaranteed free speech."

[9] Taliban in Pakistan Warn Christians to Convert to Islam, Pay Jizya Tax, Leave Pakistan, or be Killed and have Women in Family Become Sex Slaves

On 6 October 2009, Taliban members in Pakistan sent letters to Christian leaders in Sargodha, Pakistan, including the Rev. Zafar Akhter, pastor of the United Presbyterian Church, ordering the Christians to convert to Islam, pay the Jizya tax (tax imposed on non-Muslims), or leave Pakistan, else the Christian leaders will be killed, their homes and properties burned to ashes, and the women of the Christian families will be turned into sex slaves.

Jonathan Racho of International Christian Concern said: “Christians in Pakistan are soft targets for attacks by Islamic extremists. Over the past four months alone, twelve Christians have been killed by Muslims due to their faith. We are alarmed by the increase in attacks against Christians in Pakistan. We urge Pakistani officials to take the threatening letters seriously and take measures to protect the Christians and their institutions from attacks.”

[10] Somali Sharia Law has Women Whipped for Wearing Wrong Kind of Brassiere

Al Shabaab Islamists in Somalia, enforcing their interpretation of Sharia Law, have begun publically whipping women found wearing what Al Shabaab considers to be the wrong kind of brassiere. Al Shabaab’s evaluation process involves several other humiliations to the Somali women.

Other Al Shabaab enforcement of Sharia Law involves forcing Somali women to wear full veils, amputating a foot and a hand from two men accused of robbery, and whipping men and boys for not having a beard, accusing boys who can’t yet grow beards of shaving their non-existent beards.

[11] Florida Judge Orders Girl Afraid of Honor Killing by Family Returned to Ohio and Foster Care

An Orlando, Florida, judge ruled 13 October 2009, that Rifqa Bary, an Ohio seventeen-year-old from a Muslim family who became a Christian - then fled to Florida to escape an honor killing that she feared would be carried out by her family, must be returned to foster care in Ohio, where Bary’s parents will continue their court fight to regain custody of their daughter. The judge did not set a deadline for the teen’s return to Ohio, and Bary remains with another foster family in Florida.

A 26 August 2009 Presbyterians Week article titled “Muslim Honor Killings Come to America,” described several instances where women from Muslim families living in the U.S. were murdered by their fathers in so-called honor killings.

[12] Talk to Action Blogger Rob Boston Warns of “Fundamentalist” Gideons Usurping Public School Students’ Parents’ Rights

In a 13 October 2009 Talk to Action article titled “Genesis Of Controversy: Report On Gideons' Bible Distribution Is A Revelation,” blogger Rob Boston warns that Gideon Bibles emphasize in several languages John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” that the Gideon Bible contains “information about what the Bible says about sin, family life, Heaven and Jesus Christ,” and so concludes that the Gideons distribute a “certain type of Bible, one that reflects a fundamentalist interpretation of that book,” and that the Gideons go behind the backs of court rulings forbidding school-sanctioned Bible distribution to continue their court-ruling spurning activity “much to the detriment of parents' rights and students' religious liberty.”

Boston then cites an 8 October 2009 American Civil Liberties Union of Texas (ACLUTX) investigative report titled "Distribution of Gideon Bibles in Texas Public Schools: Impact on Students' Religious Liberty," that Boston found “illuminating,” which described several problem instances out of the open records requests the ACLUTX sent to ten
Texas school districts including a high school that was “inundated” with so many Gideon Bibles that some students threw the Bibles at each other and ripped pages out of the Bibles, three middle schools where an unspecified number of Jewish students were harassed by their classmates for not taking a Bible from the Gideons, and a school district where the Gideons worked through a school district director to distribute Bibles to students at thirteen schools, supposedly without the schools’ principles’ knowledge.

Boston concludes that Gideon Bible distribution in public schools usurps parental rights, that the Gideons have “no right” to distribute Bibles to public school students, and that the Gideons should go elsewhere to distribute Bibles.

[13] First Open-Air Coventicle in More Than 300 Years Held at 800-Year Old Covenanter’s Oak in Motherwell, Scotland, on 20 September 2009

More than 120 worshipers gathered at the first Conventicle, or Covenanter open-air worship service, in more than 300 years that was held 20 September 2009 in front of the 800-year old Covenanter’s Oak on the Dalzell Estate in Motherwell, Scotland.

A service of dedication was led by the Rev. Georgina Baxendale of the Motherwell South Church of Scotland, who told the assembled worshipers:

“Under this great oak, the Rev. John Laurie conducted Conventicles between 1638-1688, often attracting around 400 people of all age-groups; children were allowed to play because sermons were very, very long. During those five decades, some 18,000 people were persecuted and perished for their belief in Jesus Christ. In recent years, it is estimated the decline in membership within the Church of Scotland is in the region of 15,000 – 19,000 per year. What would our Covenanting forefathers think – that, what violence, bullying and persecution could not achieve, apathy is achieving today?”

[15] Scots Politicians Make Strange Bedfellows in Separate Bedrooms

The Scottish Labour Party (SLP), on 17 October 2009, moved to distance itself from the Orange Order (OO), after Grand Master of the OO Ian Wilson called for OO members to vote for SLP candidates in the next general election in areas where they can defeat the Scottish National Party (SNP). [18] Middletown Reformed Church Forced to Cancel Cowpie Bingo Fundraiser

Middletown Reformed Church (
Reformed Church in America) of Middletown, New Jersey, was forced to cancel its sixth annual Cowpie Bingo fundraising event scheduled for 26 September 2009, at Potter's Farm in Holmdel, New Jersey, after the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) determined that Cowpie Bingo does not fit into the strict definition of a bingo game and that it is illegal to wager on farm animals, and told the Holmdel Township Clerk that an event permit could not be issued.

Cowpie Bingo is played by entrants buying a ticket giving them “ownership” of a random square on the field, and if the cow plops in the square owned by the entrant, that person is the winner of half the money. The church receives the other half.

No mention was made by the NJDGE as to whether they will be prosecuting grandmothers patronizing casino drug stores in any one week period buying their sick grandchildren cold medicine containing more than three grams of pseudoephedrine.

[2] Redstate Blog Asks Why a Supporter of NAMBLA has been Appointed Safe Schools Czar?

In an 8 October 2009 Redstate Blog article titled “Common Decency Suggests We Should Not Have to Deal With This, But We Must Now Confront A White House Supportive of NAMBLA”, blogger Erick Erikson profiles U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings, pointing out that Jennings wrote the forward to a book called “Queering Elementary Education,” is a supporter of men who openly and vocally support pedophilia, is an opponent of the Boy Scouts of America, and is a zealous advocate of NAMBLA, the North American Man Boy Love Association.

Erikson describes how the mainstream media has distorted and obfuscated the truth about Jennings, and wonders aloud why U.S. President Obama “would put in charge of “safe schools,” a man who encourages predatory relationships between young boys and grown men,” and then Erikson asks rhetorically “Has [Obama] no shame?”

[3] 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Award to U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama Seen as Affirmation of Socialism and Denial of God’s Law

Richard A. Viguerie of ConservativeHQ.com commented on 9 October 2009 concerning the award by the Norwegian Parliament of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Barack Hussein Obama by stating:

“The announcement from the Nobel Peace Prize Committee says as much about the Norwegian voters and their parliament as it does President Obama. All involved should be embarrassed and ashamed for using this Prize to advance a radical, leftist agenda. It’s clear that the Marxist leaders in Europe know what most Americans don’t know--that the American president is a kindred spirit who they recognize as one of their own. Freedom-loving people should no longer respect or take seriously the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, as they have become an arm of the worldwide Marxist cause, evidenced by their previous selections of Yassar Arafat and Le Duc Tho and now Barack Obama. The award has been cheapened beyond repair and the Nobel Committee has insulted all who labor and sacrifice for true peace and freedom under God’s laws.”

[4] U.S. Presidential Advisor Says Sharia Law is Misunderstood

Dalia Mogahed is the first veiled Muslim woman to serve in the U.S. White House. Mogahead described her role as a member of the President's Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships as being, "to convey... to the President and other public officials what it is Muslims want."

Mogahed describes the Western perspective on Sharia Law to be “oversimplified,” and says that the majority of women around the world associate Sharia Law with "gender justice." On a recent television discussion originating in London, England, Mogahed and another Muslim woman guest made repeated attacks on secular "man-made law" and the West's "lethal cocktail of liberty and capitalism." The duo continued by demanding that Sharia Law be "the source of legislation" and said that women should not be "permitted to hold a position of leadership in government."

Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, commented: "There is a reason Sharia has got a bad name and it is how it has been exercised. Regrettably in the U.S. there have been acts of injustice perpetrated against women that are driven by the Sharia-type mindset that women are objects not human beings.” Referencing the example of Muzzammil Hassan, a Buffalo, New York, man who ran a cable channel aimed at countering Muslim stereotypes and was charged earlier this year with beheading his wife after she filed for divorce, Wright said: "Americans understand by example, it's not as if we are an ignorant mass of people. Just as we don't broad brush all Muslims, so should Dalia not downplay the serious nature of Sharia Law."

[6] Irish Republican Army Bomber and the Daughter of Man Killed by Bomb Speak before British House of Commons in “Forgiveness Event”

Patrick Magee, The Irish Republican Army bomber who killed five people when he bombed the Grand Hotel in Brighton, England, on 12 October 1984, in an unsuccessful attempt to kill then-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and her Cabinet; and Jo Berry, daughter of Conservative MP (Member of Parliament) Sir Anthony Berry who was killed in the blast; on 13 October 2009, spoke before the British House of Commons in what was billed as a “forgiveness event.”

Jo Berry has dealt with her conflicted thoughts about the bombing by continually working in Ireland with victims and former combatants from all of the factions. Berry met bomber Patrick McGee, released from multiple life sentences in 1999 by the Good Friday Agreement, for the first time in 2000.

On The Forgiveness Project’s website, McGee is quoted as saying: “Some day I may be able to forgive myself. Although I still stand by my actions, I will always carry the burden that I harmed other human beings. But I’m not seeking forgiveness. If Jo could just understand why someone like me could get involved in the armed struggle then something has been achieved. The point is that Jo set out with that intent in mind – she wanted to know why….”

[7] ABC News Compares and Contrasts Evolutionary and Creationist Views of ‘Ardi’ Fossil

An ABC News article dated 7 October 2009 by reporter Russell Goldman titled “Creationists Say Science and Bible Disprove 'Ardi' Fossil Is Evidence of Evolution: Discovery of 4.4 Million-Year-Old Fossil Does Not Shake Creationists' Faith,” provides an objective contrast of the differing views of evolutionary scientists and creationist scientists about the recent discovery in Ethiopia of the ‘Ardi” fossil.

Goldman describes evolutionary scientists who are hailing the Ardi discovery as “being celebrated as the oldest found relative of modern human beings…named Ardipithecus ramidus, or "Ardi" for short, who made Ethiopia her home nearly 5 million years ago.”

Goldman then describes the vastly differing view of creationist scientists described as, “many…with advanced degrees in science, [which] are unimpressed by Ardi, who they believe is just another ape -- an ape of indeterminate age, they add, and an ape who cannot be an ancestor of modern man for a range of reasons, including one of singular importance: God created man in one day, and evolution is a fallacy.”

Goldman quotes acclaimed anatomist and scientist David Menton as saying: “What creationists believe about human origins we get from the Bible. The creation of the world takes place on page one of the Bible. If you throw out the first page of the Bible you might as well throw out the whole thing. If you can't live with the first page then pitch out the remaining thousand pages.”
