25 December 2013

“But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.” [Ezekiel 33:6]

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” [Ephesians 6:12]

Judge Rules Geneva College Does Not Have to Provide Coverage for Contraception

A 23 December 2013
Pittsburgh Post Gazette article by Rich Lord titled “Judge Rules Geneva College Does Not Have to Provide Coverage for Contraception” reports that U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti ruled 23 December 2013 that Geneva College of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania does not have to provide employees with insurance coverage for contraception, abortion-inducing drugs and other "preventive services" because if the institution has to comply with the Affordable Care Act's rules’ contraception mandate, it will be compelled to violate its founding tenets.

The judge ruled that if a temporary injunction was not granted, that
Geneva College would be “forced to choose between: (a) violating its religious convictions by acquiescing to a government requirement that it facilitate access to abortion-inducing drugs and devices; and (b) violating its religious convictions by cancelling all health care coverage for its employees."

In June 2013, the judge granted a preliminary injunction so that
Geneva College isn’t forced to provide contraception coverage to its students.

As the injunctions are preliminary, the case will continue in the same court, and the court’s eventual decision will likely be appealed to the
3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Penny Smith, wife of Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (RPCNA) pastor the Rev. Frank J. Smith, Ph.D., D.D., wrote a 21 December 2013 article in The Atlanta Fund: Christian Ministry in Downtown Atlanta blog titled “Changing Venues – Again!”, which reported that the Atlanta Presbyterian Fellowship recently received an unexpected notice that the rental fee for the church where the fellowship met was to be raised by 150 percent.

Please read the blog article to see how God abundantly provided for the fellowship and again demonstrated the promise of Romans 8:28 -

[5] 25th Anniversary of the Lockerbie, Scotland Bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 Memorial Service at Westminster Abbey Held 21 December 2013

A 20 December 2013 The Courier article titled “Services to Mark 25th Anniversary of Lockerbie Bombing” reports that the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt. Rev. Lorna Hood, took part in the 21 December 2013 memorial service at Westminster Abbey for the 25th anniversary of the Muslim terrorist bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in which 243 passengers, sixteen crew and eleven on the ground were murdered.

Ms. Hood commented:

"It is difficult to believe that twenty-five years have passed since that awful night when so many innocent lives were lost and a town in Scotland would be forever associated with one of the worst terrorist attacks in recent history.

"I remember so clearly the devastation of the town and the grief and sorrow of relatives who journeyed across the Atlantic to see the spot where their loved ones died.

"For weeks after, rescue workers, police, members of the forces and civilians worked tirelessly to recover as much evidence as possible from the wreckage and, to this day, live with difficult memories of that time.

"I know that for many there are unanswered questions and a continuing search for truth, but this is a time to remember the 270 innocent lives cut short and the families here in Scotland and the U.S.A. living with that loss."

[7] Houston Grand Jury Won't Indict Abortionist for Twisting Heads off Babies

A Houston grand jury has refused to indict late-term abortionist Douglas Karpen after a months-long investigation into allegations of illegal late-term abortions and the killing of babies born alive at his two abortion clinics.

"The refusal to indict Karpen is a gross miscarriage of justice. The grand jury has essentially freed Karpen to continue to violate Texas laws and take the lives of late-term babies that the law was meant to protect," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "It's upsetting to know that the kind of brutality shown in the photos taken at his clinic will be allowed continue."

Operation Rescue alleged that Karpen was murdering babies in in a similar way as convicted Pennsylvania abortion Kermit Gosnell, who was found guilty of three counts of First Degree murder for intentionally killing babies born alive during late-term abortions.

The allegations against Karpen were based on information acquired from four former Karpen employees and on photographs of dead late-term babies taken by some of the workers on their cell phones. The grisly photos showed very large aborted babies that were nearly decapitated.

The informants also told Operation Rescue that Karpen routinely did abortions beyond the legal limit of 24 weeks, which seemed to be supported by the photographs.

"It's simply unbelievable that a grand jury would not find that Karpen broke the law, just based on the photographic evidence alone," said Newman. "There's no way any reasonable person could look at the images of those abortion victims and say that nothing was done wrong. The babies' throats were cut from ear to ear. That isn't something that can be done inside the womb."

Newman continued, "We are not giving up on the Karpen matter. We will continue to seek ways through the legal system to bring him to justice. This isn't the last anyone will hear of this."
