A 1 April 2015 The Christian Post article by Samuel Smith titled “N. Korea Detains S. Korean Pastor for 'Espionage'; Presbyterian Church Clarifies He Was Missionary Helping N. Korean Homeless Children in China” reports that in December 2014 after North Korean authorities invited him to come into the North Korean Capital of Pyongyang, Presbyterian Church of Korea pastor Kim Kuk Gi was arrested for espionage. Pastor Kim previously provided missionary works for North Korean defectors in Dandong, China.
North Korea is additionally holding Canadian Presbyterian megachurch pastor Choe Chun Gil, who was invited by North Korean authorities on 31 January 2015 to visit North Korea, South Korean missionary Kim Jeong Wook who was jailed in October 2013 on charges of espionage, and Choe Chun Gil who additionally was detained in late 2014 and charged with espionage.
