The 4 November 2015 Presbyterians Week included a prayer request from ARPTalk Editor the Rev. Dr. Chuck Wilson for the Rev. Dr. John Bost, his family, friends, and congregants due to Pastor Bost having inoperable pancreatic and liver cancer.
The Associate Reformed Presbyterian magazine announced 1 December 2015 that Pastor Bost, on 30 November 2015, succumbed to his illness:
The Reverend Doctor John Jefferson Bost, beloved husband of Maggie Hardman Bost, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015, at his residence with his wife by his side. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 13, 1950, he was the son of the late John Webb Bost and the late Clara Short Bost.
Reverend Bost was the Pastor of the Young Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Anderson. Prior to coming to Young Memorial, he was the Pastor of Westview Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Mt. Holly, NC. For thirteen years, he was adjunct professor of theology at Belmont Abby College. Dr. Bost earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pfeiffer College, a Master of Divinity degree at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree also from Gordon-Conwell. He is a member of Second Presbytery of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Dr. Bost served as Chairman of the Board of Dunlap Orphanage Board. He was also on the Board of Collins Children Home in Seneca and the Board of the Anderson Area YMCA.
In addition to his wife, Maggie, of the residence, Dr. Bost is survived by his two daughters, Sarah Bost Dunning and her husband, Matthew, of Rock Hill, SC, and Megan Elizabeth Groll and her husband, Thomas, of Ft. Mill, SC; two grandchildren, Ada Elizabeth Groll and Joseph Thomas Groll; and a sister, Linda Bost Norris and her husband, Dallas, of Salem, VA. Dr. Bost will be deeply missed by his beloved family, congregation, and all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service to celebrate and honor the life of The Reverend Dr. Jeff Bost will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at 3 p.m., at the Young Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dean Woods officiating. The family will receive friends following the Service in the Rainey Room at Young Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. The Elders who have served on the Sessions of either Young Memorial or Westview A.R.P. Churches are invited to serve as Honorary Escort at the Memorial Service and should arrive at Young Memorial by 2:30 PM on Saturday.

A 30 November 2015 STV article titled “Church of Scotland Welcomes Large Number of Trainee Ministers” reports that the Church of Scotland has so far in 2015 welcomes twenty-seven ministerial candidates with the possibility of others being welcomed after an assessment scheduled for December 2015.
About half of the Kirk’s approximately 800 active ministers are age fifty-five or over, and there is concern that there will not be enough younger ministers to take their places when they retire.
